Northern Neck Electric Co-op: Seeking Public Relations Manager

With Who:  Northern Neck Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Location:  Warsaw, VA

Type of Employment:  Full-Time

Salary:  Range: $78,700 – $116,300

Position Description:  The major duties of this job are to develop, implement and direct activities that promote Northern Neck Electric Cooperative’s (Cooperative) electric business and enhance the public image of the Cooperative.  Other duties of the job are to develop and maintain good relations with elected officials, Cooperative members, employees and the general public.  Duties will also include participating in the Home Builders Association and provide professional presentations for community, civic and service organizations concerning safety, efficient use of energy; load management and general information relative to the Cooperative; initiating, planning and developing programs which will maintain communications with residential developers, builders, architects, related contractors and real estate agents in order to promote the Cooperative’s programs; developing and maintaining good public relations with the Cooperative’s key accounts; presenting electrical safety and educational programs for schools and civic groups in counties served by the Cooperative; coordinating the Cooperative’s legislative program, directing letter writing campaigns and keeping abreast of potential legislative and regulatory issues; coordinating Youth Tour program on a local level and serve as a chaperone on annual Youth Tour; planning and preparing articles for Cooperative Living magazine to meet required deadlines; coordinating development and placement of advertising in radio and area publications, group publications, school yearbooks, etc.; planning and preparing advertising campaigns and promotional materials for all services and products offered by the Cooperative; planning and preparing billing inserts as needed to meet required deadlines; and serving as the Cooperative’s communicator during periods of wide-spread outages, disaster and at other times when it is important to communicate with members and the general public.

Qualifications:  Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in journalism, marketing, communications or related field.  Other fields of study will be considered in conjunction with relevant experience and background.  Courses in communications preferred.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Excellent fringe benefits.
