Marymount University: Seeking Advancement Events Manager

Position Description:  Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating strategic special events to cultivate and steward donors and to increase alumni and community interest in providing financial support of Marymount University. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement the Advancement Events Manager will work closely with University partners, alumni, volunteers, donors, outside vendors, and community members.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • The Advancement Events Manager will execute a signature event, and several other campus and greater community events that best support the mission of the Office of Advancement.
  • Interpret, select, and apply appropriate guidelines and procedures necessary to accomplish Advancement events and initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor a budget and timeline; maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts; event site-selection; assigning, briefing, and supervising of volunteers; develops and manages a system for registration or sponsorship/table/ticket sales (as applicable).
  • Create communication plans for events including print, email, social media, promotional event materials, and other media in collaboration with the team.

Other Duties and Assignments:  

  • Possess high-level of attention to detail, strong time-management and problem solving skills, ability to be resourceful, proactive, seek assistance as needed, and customer service orientation.
  • Supervision and direction of event volunteers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Strong communication skills

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with event planning, communications or related experience
  • Demonstrated experience with planning, running and evaluating events

License or Certifications:

  • Driver’s license required

Financial Responsibility:

  • Makes financial decisions within university or accepted accounting guidelines, including review of financial reports, purchasing decisions, contract review/negotiations, etc.

Supervision:

  • Supervises volunteers

Special Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Ability to multi-task and detail oriented

Special Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work weekends and evenings, and travel as needed
