TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month full-time position

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Community Resource Coordinator serves as the back bone for health promotion at Fight Colorectal Cancer. This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of patient education campaigns nationwide.  This unique and dynamic position provides hands on experience writing, blogging, and producing webinars, coordinating photo shoots, and being a part of an energetic team. The Community Resource Coordinator works directly to empower colorectal cancer patients, their families, caregivers and health professionals through supportive discussion and the delivery of high quality cancer related information.  As such, successful candidates for this position MUST be emotionally intelligent and have strong oral and written communication skills.  This position requires strong project management, time management, and communications skills, reporting directly to the Director of Health Promotion.  The Community Resource Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of patient related services and initiatives at the local level and national level.

 

Primary responsibilities are:

 

  • To develop and manage a portfolio of specialists and survivorship services to support patients, survivors, and their families affected by colorectal cancer

 

  • To build, foster and maintain relationships with external stakeholders – health and social care partners, service providers, celebrities, politicians, and community development networks and alliances.

 

  • To initiate, facilitate and support the building of networks with community organizations, volunteers, and coordinate the medical advisory board (MAB).

 

  • To represent Fight CRC at appropriate speaking engagements, conferences and events, in local and national media to promote services and raise awareness about the organization.

 

  • To works with volunteers on local community events and awareness activities to ensure effective recruitment, placement, orientation and development of volunteers in accordance with established goals and objectives.

 

  • To coordinate, write, and develop an online resource for patients to include fact sheets, blogs, survivors’ stories, social media, and updates to the website year around.

 

  • To acts as a program resource by providing information about Fight CRC programs to medical networks, alliances, volunteers, and the public.

 

  • To provide project management and contact management support for community events and activities.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works independently.
  • Works as part of multidisciplinary team.
  • Some evening and weekend work required.
  • 25-35% travel is required.
  • Responds to inquiries from the general public (in person, on phone or via e-mail).
  • Tight deadlines.
  • Multiple reporting relationships.
  • Works with confidential issues and data.
  • Multiple priorities and interaction with many clients.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  Commensurate job experience and experience working for a health or disease-related organization will be considered.
  • Successful experience writing grants and securing major gifts.
  • Candidate will need to be self-starter, accountable to the tasks while able to work on own with limited supervision, must be a team player and work with others even via remote systems ( Google+  / SKYPE )
  • Time management skills and compliance to deadlines
  • Computer skills and comfortable with use of Social Media and core applications including:

    • Salesforce

    • Word Press
    • Web Browsers ( Chrome, Firefox, IE )
    • As required by supervisor, other duties assigned related to program
