Position Summary: (This is a paid internship.) Charleston County DAODAS (Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services) received the ECHO SOR grant to work to combat the opioid epidemic on a local level. Under this grant, our strategies include providing education to the public about the dangers of opioid misuse, as well as the importance of safe disposal and safe storage of prescription medications. We provide these services free of charge.
We are seeking a marketing and communications intern for Spring 2020.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Increase community awareness using social media, press releases, newsletters, and short videos.
- Create social media posts to be used on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
- Develop a communications plan that will create sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Effective organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva and/or other programs to develop posts, and social media platforms to include Facebook and Twitter.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $10/hour (10-15 hours per week)
- Flexible hours
- All major holidays observed
