Internship – Company Communications/Public Relations

Department Overview: Cross-functional, multi-franchise communications team dedicated to furthering the stories of our characters within the consumer products space and executing meaningful campaigns that create additional awareness around our business.
A Day in the Life…
Reporting to the Public Relations Manager, Licensing Communications, the communications intern will assist in the day-to-day activities of driving forward the PR strategy and consumer product activations across all franchises including Princess, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and DMCE (Disney Media, Classics & Entertainment).
This includes building relationships internally with our Franchise and Licensing teams, supporting all key activations and campaigns, and being engaged in the entertainment, fashion and consumer products industries to further increase knowledge of the business and continuing to think of innovative ways to tell our stories.

ADDITIONAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with specific elements in executing cross-franchise PR strategies and activations
  • Research and identify key media targets and consumer product trends
  • Coordinate and maintain press and influencer distribution lists
  • Coordinate and maintain internal PR calendar
  • Assist on building pitch decks and campaign recap decks
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal teams
  • Prepare internal reports that showcase press coverage
  • Contribute to strategy brainstorms with ideas
  • Utilize team collaboration tools (Box, Google docs) to drive effective record-keeping, communication and efficiency

YOU BRING
  • Previous internship experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Public Affairs or Marketing
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint & Keynote along with Google Docs & Google Sheets
  • Knowledge of AP Style
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience as a Disney Cast Member
  • Knowledge of Cision, Critical Mention, MailChimp and other tracking software is recommended, but not required
REQUIRED EDUCATION
  • Currently a Junior or higher pursuing (or recently graduated with) a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related major
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from an accredited college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)
Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are August 2019 through January 2020. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
