The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is now hiring a marketing assistant. See specific duties and qualifications for the job below —

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the trafficking of department projects, including scheduling marketing requests, collaborating across departments to obtain necessary information and ensuring projects are completed on time under guidance of Associate VP of Marketing.
  • Maintain frequent communication with Associate VP of Marketing and project managers to provide project updates.
  • Attend program and project planning meetings and schedule Marketing needs accordingly.
  • Coordinate with Digital Communications Coordinator to implement social media strategy and schedule messaging across multiple social media channels.
  • Assist in posting and updating content on Chamber website.
  • Develop and maintain calendar for email communication with Chamber membership.
  • Write content for Chamber website, electronic newsletters, publications and social media channels.
  • Assist in public relations efforts, including drafting press releases and distributing to appropriate media channels, updating and maintaining segmented media lists, and submitting Chamber programs and events to local media calendars.
  • Track and share Chamber media mentions and provide quarterly report of coverage.
  • Assist in ensuring all Chamber materials maintain brand consistency, meet quality expectations and accurate.
  • Attend Chamber programs and events as needed to provide assistance and for increased knowledge and familiarity for utilization in ongoing projects.
  • Support the Chamber’s goals, initiatives and brand commitments, working with appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain understanding of each division’s goals and objectives, as it relates to project design and deliverables.
  • Assist the Associate VP of Marketing as needed and handle other duties as assigned by Associate VP of Marketing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Associate’s Degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field, OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience in similar role.
  • Experience in social media and digital communication platforms.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with Adobe Create Suite preferred.

Social Media & Website Content Intern(s)

Achievement Consulting, LLC., one of the largest Sports Psychology, Mental Conditioning, & Life Coaching organizations in the South is looking for interns that are looking to expand AC’s Social Media presence [on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube] and have a passion for not only athletics, but making the lives of people better with positive energy and daily messages via social media.

AC works with teams and individuals in the NCAA, NFL, MLB, Professional Track & Field, and other Nationwide Organizations. We have worked with over 50 NCAA All-Americans, 160 All-Conference Selections, along with NCAA Individual and Team Champions.

This is an unpaid internship that will require 140 hours of work. 80% of the work will be done remotely, but with daily updates with AC’s CEO either in person, phone, FaceTime, or Skype. The other 20% of the time will be spent in the field with the AC Team during games and other AC functions.

Requirements:

  • Firm, sound knowledge of how to create Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube content [from graphic creation, to uploading written and video content, to creating select groups]
  • The knowledge on how to grow a social media audience, not with their social network, but with athletic and life coaching communities.
  • A personal laptop & smartphone
  • A passion and knowledge of NCAA and Professional Sports
  • The ability to work an occasional night and weekend filming and giving social media updates for AC Clients

EnvisionSC: (EnvisionSC.org) is a non-profit initiative begun EnvisionSC was begun in 2012 as an initiative of the College of Charleston to foster new ideas and initiatives to make South Carolina “world class and globally connected.” In 2014, we launched our flagship project, World Class Scholars a real-time online, cultural and educational exchange connecting schools in South Carolina and schools around the world.

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Communications Assistant will manage most of the ongoing communications activities of EnvisionSC. The duties will generally included

  • Email newsletters – writing and producing the bi-weekly email newsletter and distribution via the Salsa Labs technology
  • List management – compiling and managing the email list / contact data base of those interested in EnvisionSC (currently less than 2,000)
  • Media Research – a survey of newspapers in the state to determine which ones carry the weekly column of EnvisionSC co-founder Phil Noble
  • Arrange Interviews – for EnvisionSC staff with local media outlets
  • Promotional materials – writing and editing various promotional materials
  • Website / Social Media – maintenance and expansion of website and social media operations of EnvisionSC and the PhilNoble.com site (in development)
  • Media Analytics – develop and manage an ongoing data analytics capability of all related digital media

Skills / Abilities: The successful candidate will be:

  • Committed to the goals of EnvisionSC of promoting innovation and new ideas for South Carolina
  • A self-starter who can work with a minimal amount of ongoing supervision to achieve assigned tasks within deadlines
