HealthLinks Charleston, the Lowcountry’s new quarterly publication focusing on health, wellness and today’s medical industry, is searching for an industrious, organized and talented social media and production intern. The internship will last for at least three months (from mid-April until mid-July) with a possibility for hire afterward.
We request a student or recent graduate who is looking to boost their credibility and skills in the avenues of social media (particularly Facebook) as well as administration and production for our editorial. You’ll have the opportunity to work with our managing editors, publishers, art director and other key people in the medical publishing industry. Payment to be discussed for the right candidate.

- Write internal news stories and external press releases

Learning Objectives (Required for All Internships):
- Ability to write a variety of mass media products, including news stories and press releases, following accepted journalistic standards, including Associated Press style and inverted pyramid format.
- Understand the basic principles of photography, including composition, content and technical aspects.
- Ability to design and layout a variety of mass media products, including fliers and posters, employing contemporary graphic design theory and practices.
- Ability to create new media products, including blog posts, web stories and social media content.
- Ability to function in a professional work environment (show up on time, dress appropriately, meet deadlines, etc.).
Roper St. Francis is the only private, not-for-profit healthcare system in the Lowcountry with a specific focus on community outreach. We have about 5,500 employees, three hospitals and more than 90 facilities and doctor offices.

COURSES FOR CREDIT
Maximize your summer by also taking courses between 3 and 9 credits from George Mason University. Take courses designed for journalism and communication majors and choose from a variety of engaging electives. Learn from Professor Richard Benedetto, founding White House and Campaign Reporter for USA TODAY. His internship seminar will give you an insider’s view of political reporting. We award over $1 million in scholarship funding each year, and there are generous scholarships still available. Students receive awards based on financial need and merit and which typically to range from $1,000 -$4,500.

These are paid leadership positions and allow students to develop practical skills that employers are desperately seeking, including working in teams, critical thinking, and supervision. Each position averages 12-20 hours per week and requires some evening and weekend hours. Successful candidates are being asked to attend LeaderShape and will return to campus the week prior to the start of the Fall 2016 semester.
The deadline for submission of completed applications is 5 PM on Friday, March 18. Qualified applicants will be contacted during the week of March 21 to schedule an interview with members of the CisternYard Media Advisory Board on Friday, March 25 between 1 PM and 4 PM.
Georgie Beauty, an eco-luxe beauty brand, seeks a marketing and social media intern for summer 2016. Responsibilities include growing social media presence by creating original content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Strong communication skills required, as intern would be responsible for corresponding with editors, bloggers, and social influencers. Other responsibilities include assisting with web site and fulfilling web orders, responding to customer inquiries, researching new sales leads, and helping execute marketing plan.
