Cooperative Learning Opportunity
ICEBOX is looking for interns to assist with the 10th Annual BB&T Charleston Wine +
Food Festival taking place March 4-8th, 2015. Interns will gain real-life event
experience while helping to prepare for the festival, as well as a series of small events
leading up to the festival weekend. Working closely with the Director of Operations and
Event + Logistics Coordinator, interns will assist with coordination of event logistics
with outside vendors, collaborate with internal departments to produce the festival and
assist with weekend-of festival set-up and breakdown with staff and volunteers.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take initiative with minimal supervision on projects
Eagerness to learn
Ability to lift, stand, and bend
Day and evening availability from February 28th-March 8th
This is a fabulous opportunity for students to experience first-hand the Charleston
event industry. Students will work in a fast paced environment onsite to better
understand how events are planned and executed, while building job skills and

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is seeking an individual with communications training to lead outreach to media around marine and coastal topics. The employee is responsible for development and delivery of messages related to the research, management and stewardship of South Carolina’s natural resources. Must possess excellent public relations skills, proven written and oral communication skills with a broad range of the audiences. Experience using social media networks and other traditional and modern tools to promote messages and events is strongly preferred. Requires a bachelor’s degree in science or communications with two years of experience. Position is stationed in Charleston, but may require travel to other coastal South Carolina locations.

Social Venture Partners Charleston is a team of dedicated philanthropists who collectively invest their expertise and financial resources into area nonprofit organizations. Along with “on-the-ground” work with nonprofits, the Partnership also hosts various events throughout the year to engage with the community-at-large and build the knowledge base of the Partnership. Social Venture Partners is looking for an intern for Summer 2015.
The attached job description (SVP_Internship_ Summer 2015) provides more information, but the main criteria are a willingness to learn, an ability to work independently and take initiative, and superior writing skills. The internship provides a great introduction to the nonprofit and philanthropy fields, as the intern will spend time with nonprofit grant recipients and the rest of the staff at Coastal Community Foundation. Additionally, the intern will be able to meet and network with the members of the Partnership, all of whom achieved great success in their professions: law, management consulting, marketing, and more.
As outlined in the job description, the position would run through the summer with a possibility to continue through the following academic year. The time commitment is 10-15 hours a week, with compensation. Social Venture Partners accepts interns of any age, as long as they meet the qualifications for the position. The deadline to apply for the internship is March 15.

Family Services, Inc. is hosting its fifth annual Money Rocks youth financial education summit on Saturday, March 7th at Charleston Southern University. The free event is for teens and young adults ages 12 to 21, as well as parents. We provide workshops on money management, career skills, and ways to pay for college.
We are looking for a videographer to donate time and skills to support the event. Money Rocks will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are happy to give references after the event – this is a great resume builder!
We expect about 500 attendees at Money Rocks, and it is gaining more and more recognition through our partners Channel 5 and Apex Broadcasting. Ketchum’s Summer Fellows Program is now posted and we are accepting applications!
The Summer Fellows Program is a 10 week paid internship, open to current juniors (graduating in 2016) and seniors (graduating in 2015) pursuing their bachelor’s degree. This year the program will run from June 1st through August 7th, applicants must be available for the entire length of the program without interruption. This internship gives students an opportunity to build their PR skills in a true hands-on manner. Candidates graduating in May of 2015, have the opportunity to interview for a potential full-time position at Ketchum towards the end of the program.
