2nd Floor Service Desk

Circulation is expanding into new territory with a 2nd Floor Service Desk, now operational. Students now have a ready resource on the same floor as the general collection for assistance with stacks access and library questions of any sort. Desk hours are Monday thru Thursday, 1:00-6:00 pm, during peak traffic hours. Please don’t hesitate to consult us for assistance with research inquiries or any equipment, including mobile shelving and microfilm. Hopefully this will prove convenient and eliminate the hassle of retreating to the first floor for problems on the second or third.

Self-Checkout Machine Moved

The Self-Checkout Machine, previously located next to the Circulation desk on the first floor, has been moved to the second floor, near the rotunda. This should prove a more convenient location, as the entire general collection has been moved to the second floor as of this summer’s renovation project. Stay posted for more updates of library equipment and new services.

Celebrate Departmental Transparency with New Research Guide

Thanks to our updated research guides, it has never been easier to make full use of Addlestone Library’s resources. The circulation guide is one of the newest additions to our wealth of helpful material, and can be viewed here:

http://libguides.library.cofc.edu/Circulationservices

Information about all our services and policies is finally in one place.  Everything from a list of reserves you may not know we housed (iPads, cameras, kindles, projectors, etc…) to a comprehensive guide all of our employment/volunteer opportunities has been included. Well designed guides for other library services, in addition to useful pages for various courses, have been up and running as well.

Save Lids to Save Lives at Addlestone

Our annual recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month here at Addlestone Library kicks off yet again, and yet again we can support the Susan G. Komen Foundation through the donation of Yoplait yogurt lids (please wash). A donation box is being held at the end of the Circulation desk in the library, unmistakable in pink. Yoplait has raised over $34 million to date through the Save Lids to Save Lives initiative. As one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, this is an undeniably important cause, with the utmost immediacy. Thank you for your contributions, and let’s eat lots of yogurt this October.

Yoplait Drive for Breast Cancer Back in Effect

Once again, you can save lids to save lives. From October to December, the Addlestone Library Circulation Department is collecting Yoplait lids in support of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The College of Charleston’s Women’s Studies group is sponsoring the drive.

Yoplait will donate $.10 to the Susan G. Komen foundation for every pink lid collected and mailed to Yoplait by December 31, 2012.  Come join us in support of Cancer Research; bring your clean, pink Yoplait lids to Circulation at the Addlestone Library and place them in the pink Yoplait box at the end of the desk.
