Convocation Grants

• Two Convocation Starter Grant deadlines will be observed: apply by June 20, 2008 for proposals to be implemented during Welcome Week or in early fall; apply by September 15, 2008 for proposals to be implemented in late fall or early spring 2009.
• Most grants will be for $250-$500 and will include stipends for course or project preparation and support money for project materials (if needed). Please include a rough estimate of budgetary needs for projects requiring support.

Directions for Convocation Starter Grants for Faculty Development or Community Outreach:

• Copy and paste in a word or other document the Grant Application Cover Sheet below and complete the required information.
• Check off Convocation Grant choice
• Amounts of grants: $250-$500
• Deadline June 20, 2008 for proposals to be implemented during Welcome Week or early fall 2008
  Deadline September 15,2008 for proposals to be implemented in late fall 2008 or early spring 2009
• Send your completed application by the deadline to Carol Ann Davis (DavisCA@cofc.edu or 96 Wentworth Street, Room 314.) Be sure to allow time to acquire required signatures.
  • Grant ideas include but are not limited to the following:
  • Symposia give by students and faculty demonstrating the experiments outlined in the book and/or discussing their import or applications across disciplines
  • Research into and presentations about modern day prize competitions that resemble the one depicted in the book
  • Organizing a CofC prize contest for your academic area
  • Developing a creative idea for exploring the book or the ideas therein in a course you are already scheduled to teach
