1:00 The US Army Corps of Engineers-We Do Dredging…and a Whole Lot More  Presenter: Corps of Engineers Spokesperson
This presentation will provide an overview of the mission of the corps of engineers, focusing on its role within SC and the Charleston area. The main focus will be the dredging they perform in the Charleston area. The main focus will be the dredging they perform in the Charleston Harbor and how they manage the operation and maintenance of the Federal channel.
2:30  Music and Meaning II
Presenter: Lorna barker; Music Director; Christ Church, Mt. Pleasant
Lorna Barker delighted and enriched us last year with a remarkable presentation. With sheet music displayed in front of us on the screen, she used her keyboard, her voice and her dynamic energy to allow us to see how the elements of the music were composed. She will return again this year to bring us more experiences with music and meaning.
Next meeting, May 6, will be our last for this semester. It is a luncheon, annual meeting and scholarship presentation. Be sure to make your reservation.

08:15 leave St. Josephs
10:00 arrive at Darla Moore botanical gardens (1642 Pine Bay Rd)
Spend a few minutes looking around, prepare for the tour
10:30 tour of the gardens begins
12:30 be prepared to board the bus to lake city
01:00 have lunch at the Railway Restaurant or a spot of your own choosing. (114 Acline St)
02:00 tour the Jones-Carter gallery and museum.(105 Henry St)
03:00 tour the Artfields exhibits at the various businesses around town within walking distance.
04:00 board bus for Charleston
06:00 arrive back at St Josephs
06:30 arrive at target parking lot

Photographs are an integral part of people’s lives. People view pictures. They take pictures. Pictures preserve our memories, convey information and the vehicles for insight and perspective. They are also means of artistic expression. The photo editor for the Post & Courier will help us take better pictures and will also answer questions on the changing nature of photo-journalism.

First laid out in the colonial era, Hampstead has a rich architectural story as well. Join Christina Rae Butler for an illustrated history of one of Charleston’s most diverse and often overlooked neighborhoods, from 1769 to the present.
