February 18 & 19 Study Skill Seminar-Take your Best Test!

Students often use the first test of the semester to test their own test preparation and test taking skills: “Are the methods and strategies I am using working for me?” If the answer is “no”, it may be time to make some changes, so the results on the second test aren’t a carbon copy of the first test! But where and how do they begin to make changes to their study strategies? At this week’s Study Skills Seminar

Do you know the Mentors? Guided by Director of Orientation Stephanie Auwaerter, the Mentors work one on one with new students, present workshops on topics of interest to new students, visit Freshman Seminar and other classes to discuss these topics, publish an online newsletter for new students, and assist other departments with various activities to help make new students’ adjustment to the College of Charleston easier. Want more information? Visit their web page: http://www.cofc.edu/~nsp/new_student_mentors.html

The Mentors are also highly successful students who know what it takes to make it at the College! During this Seminar, they will share their Tried and True Tips on: Staying Focused in Class, Preparing for Tests, Making the Most of Group Work—and more!

This is a brand new Seminar topic based on several years of collaboration between the Center for Student Learning and the New Student Mentors program. Please encourage your students to join us; the Strategies shared by the Mentors may well be the springboard to their success!
