Welcome to the Very First Arts Management Program Newsletter!

Welcome! On behalf of our faculty and staff, we are pleased to introduce you to the inaugural issue of the Arts Management Program’s e-Newsletter.

We look forward to keeping you updated on the goings-on of our exciting 20+ year program. As prospective and current students, alumni, parents, donors, and colleagues at the College of Charleston and in the local and global arts communities, we are all bound by a lifelong passion for the arts. So, in the pages that follow and the e-newsletters to come, enjoy reading about the many ways our Arts Management Program contributes to a healthy teaching and learning environment in the arts.

I am honored to announce other inaugural milestones of our program. During Fall 2016, we welcomed the program’s first tenure-track faculty members, Dr. Kate Keeney and Dr. Jason White. This weekend, we’ll kick off our Annual Alumni Affair during the 2017 Spring Alumni Weekend, and the launch of our first endowment. The Scott Shanklin-Peterson Internship Endowment is named for our program’s esteemed former director and funds internship stipends for our students. Judith Allen, a beloved faculty member, funded the $100,000 endowment with a major gift that was matched by our donors including many of you…thank you for your gifts to our endowment. Both of these milestones will be celebrated on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 11:00-1:00 pm in the Hill Gallery, Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Center for the Arts on our campus. We hope you’ll join us for this historic occasion.

Thank you, each of you, for your support of the Arts Management Program over the years, and in the years to come. We’re making you proud!

KAREN A. CHANDLER, Ph.D.
Director and Associate Professor, Arts Management Program
