Some Interesting Works for the OpenArt biennale in Orebro, Sweden!
August 30th, 2011 · No Comments
Remember Florentijn Hofman‘s Fat Monkey sculpture made of 10,000 flip flops? Well, the Rotterdam-based artist is at it again with his newest large-scale sculpture: an adorable, 13 meter high yellow rabbit in Örebro, Sweden. Constructed out of locally-manufactured shingles, the temporary sculpture was built for the OpenArt biennale and meant to challenge people’s perceptions towards public space.
From June 11th to September 11th, the city centre of Orebro will be filled with exhibits from the summer’s biggest art event. Some 50 or more artists from all around the world have displayed their works for almost 100 days. The city’s summer visitors have experienced art where they least expected it; right in the middle of one of Sweden’s most beautiful city centres.
The goal of OpenART is to stage unconventional and creative encounters with art that has taken a step outside into the public arena in order to meet a wider audience. Just by daring to break those ingrained beliefs about how art should be experienced, Orebro OpenART is creating a whole new arena for art.
