part 3/12
Student Affairs is working hard as always to make student life the best around! Their office covers a huge number of departments including the Dean of Students Office, Student Leadership, Student Health Services, Student Life, Residence Life, Upward Bound, Center for Civic Engagement, Multicultural Student Programs and Services, Community Relations, Disability Services, Greek Life, Public Safety, CARE, Campus Recreation, and Facilities. Here are a few of the things I thought were extra special from their presentation to the Office of Admission:
Campus Recreation offers a Surf Clinic at Folly Beach, a Bike the Bridge & Mount Pleasant program, new group fitness programs in Taebo and Zumba, overnight theme trips including rock climbing and kayaking, midweek kayaking on Folly River and Shem Creek, and Play Days every Wednesday in the Johnson Center when students can come play dodgeball, kickball, racquetball, and even board games.
Healthy Meals is an 8-week activity where students cook a healthy meal and dine together, taught by a culinary school graduate, taking place in one of the residence halls. Find out more on the Campus Recreation website.
One more amazing student affairs activity is one that many of you may have heard of. The CofC Rave! Each year Student Government (SGA) ”secretly” plans a rave in the Addlestone Library to take the edge off finals week and give students a much needed study break. Check out videos of the rave complete with crowd surfing on the video on YouTube! here and here!
It’s all here at College of Charleston! See more at Student Affairs website.
