part 2/12
CofC’s School of the Arts has a ton of exciting things going on right now. Recently, we’ve seen a bit of fame coming to and from the area. Mark Bryan, lead guitarist for Hootie and the Blowfish, will be teaching a course on concert management this school year, so that will certainly be in high demand. And, Carol Hannah Whitfield, a former studio art major here, is a contestant on the new season of Project Runway. The whole campus will be cheering her on as she shows fashion addicts across the country the wealth of creativity we have coming from CofC!
The hottest topic at the SOTA, though, is probably their new building, the Marion and Wayland H. Cato Jr. Center for the Arts.
The center has been in progress for years now, first as an idea and then as an actual structure, so anticipation for its opening increases daily.
Members of our arts faculty are eager to move into their new offices this fall, and everyone on campus will begin reaping the benefits of increased studio, performance, and teaching space in spring 2010.
